The Legend of the Blue Eyes Review

Title: The Legend of the Blue Eyes

Author: B. Kristin McMichael

Book: (The Blue Eyes Trilogy, #1)

Pages: 256

Rating: 3.5/5

This is such a weird book! I have read many books (not bragging) and so I didn't think any book could confuse me. I was wrong. This book confused me so much I had to keep rereading it trying to figure out what was going on. It didn't help in the least. Then there is the legend in the book which really makes me mad. I won't tell you so you have to read the book. It's so not fair!
Arianna (Ari) though she was just a normal girl. Except for the fact that she was an orphan living with her aunt and uncle. That all changed when she turned sixteen and discovered she was purebred Baku and purebred Dearg-dul. In other words she is two different kinds of vampire. She learns she has an uncle (real one) and a grandfather who are on opposing sides of the night humans. Baku and Tengu vs. Dearg-dul and Lycan. She is a bridge between the two.
She meets Devin who's on her PPU and Turner who goes to school with her. They are both madly in love with her and she with them. The thing that bugs me is that she can have both (and more) without having to choose between them. Not freaking fair! She gets to have guys who love her without having to choose! Agh! Whoever wrote this book had some strange ideas...I like them to an extent.
The book is kind of slow and confusing but I actually enjoyed it...I don't know why but I did. All the book deals with is her becoming both Dearg-dul and Baku. Big whoop. I guess it does get exciting towards the end but not on the edge of your seat intense. I like being surprised and this book did nothing to surprise me. Once I get the second book I will do a review on it too. I can't seem to read just one book in the series...I usually have to read them all.

The Darkangel Review

Title: The Darkangel

Author: Meredith Ann Price

Book: (Darkangel Trilogy, #1)

Pages: 238

Rating: 4.5/5

Ohmygosh!! I loved this book! It was far fetched and I found myself laughing so much! It wasn't funny though. I couldn't tell if the writing was bad or if I had just read better books. I loved it though and it reminded me of a mix between Beauty and the Beast and The Chronicles of Narnia. Except for the fact that the vampire is supposedly gorgeous! A bit weird but I never thought he'd harm her. Ahh I'm getting ahead of myself so let me start from the beginning.
Aeriel is a maid who is one day walking in the mountains with her mistress Eoduin. When her mistress gets kidnapped by the vampire she has a hard choice. Be sold off or to face the vampire up on the mountain. She chooses to face him and instead of killing him she is entranced by his beauty and he takes her to his castle. There she is to serve his thirteen wives (one of them is Eoduin) who's souls, hearts, and blood he has taken from them. They are completely unrecognizable...
She is scared but she and Talb (a duarough) hatch a plan to free the wives and slay the vampire. Talb helps her escape since the vampire wants to kill her for giving him dreams but it isn't long before the vampire is on her heels. She is saved by a leosol (best I can tell is that he's a lion) and together they head to the one thing that can kill the vampire. They are attacked (of course) by jackals who the white witch controls (she controls the vampire too) and so she has to go back to the castle alone.
Once there she discovers that she is to become his fourteenth (and final) bride. Moving quickly the wraiths (wives) do their best to help her defeat him. Will they succeed in killing the vampire or will they fail and let the vampires take over the world? Oh yes there are six more vampires! That's in the book so don't you fret! XD
I loved this book and was glad my friend gave it to me (since she didn't like it) to keep! Seems like I get a lot of my books from her...Anyway it was a bit odd and silly but I do recommend this and hope to get the rest of the series soon. This is the first book in the series if you haven't already figured that out. It is a short book and I finished it in two days. I could've finished it in one but I didn't start it till after dinner. I did manage to get to read a lot in that time though. Oh I loved it and I hope you agree with my review!

Red 2 Movie Review

Title: RED 2

Year: 2013

Time: 1hr 56min

Rating: 4.5/5

I loved this movie!! I went in expecting a bit more but I still enjoyed myself immensely! All of it is totally unbelievable but hey the Red movies are...I loved all the actors and the writing was splendid for every one of their roles. Let me now try to tell you what the movie is about.
Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) and Marvin Boggs (John Malkovich) have been targeted yet again but this time it isn't their fault. They were implicated in helping hide a nuclear bomb (or something like that) somewhere around the world (I believe in Moscow). Together along with Frank's girlfriend Sarah Ross (Mary-Louise Parker) go to Paris and meet one of Frank's old girlfriends (Catherine Zeta-Jones) who is also a Russian spy. Needless to say Sarah is not happy and has no problem making Frank jealous. :D
Then they fly to London where they meet Victoria (Helen Mirren) who is trying to kill all of them because she was hired by MI6. Hans (Lee Byung-hun) has also been hired to kill them by the CIA. Obviously they don't kill Frank, Marvin, or Sarah. That would be awful if they did! O.O
The scientist who created the bomb has been locked away in an institution until Frank and Victoria break him out. They had good intentions when they did so. Edward Bailey (Anthony Hopkins) is crazy and plans to see the bomb go off much to everyone's surprise.
I found Sarah kind of clingy but I guess that was because she was kind of bored with her life. No excitement...I loved the movie though and know quite a few people who will agree when I say this movie was great! I loved all the actors but I had hoped Karl Urban would be in it yet again. I love him! Sadly I was disappointed... I was happy to have Lee Byung-hun though! So hot! :D Well I hope I didn't spoil anything! Not too much anyway.

The Ward Review

Title: The Ward

Author: Jordana Frankel

Book: (The Ward, #1)

Pages: 465

Rating: 4.5/5

I fall in love with the cover first thing so when I saw it I had to read what it was about. Once I'd done that I realized it sounded great and I got it the first chance that I got. I love apocalyptic books so I really enjoyed this even though some of the characters really made me angry!
The world is underwater and so it is hard to get fresh water to everyone. The Blight is a sickness that is caused by not having enough fresh (healthy) water. Everything has been built up to keep everything dry and so the have boardwalks and they race cars on the roofs and the water. I love the cars they races!
Renata Dane (Ren) is a racer who never looses in the three years she competes. She competes for the money so she can help her sister (foster sister) Aven get the meds she needs to stay alive. Aven has the Blight and so Ren buys stuff so she doesn't feel the pain of the tumour on her neck. She is a mole for the Blues trying to find a fresh water source and on the night of a race a guy shows up and tells her they have a tip. She is to find out if there really is water source there and she thinks she can do that and win the race. She can't.
Callum is a scientist and Darek is her bookie and the guy she really likes. Callum tries to help her find a cure for the Blight while Darek has other plans. She finds a source and so Callum makes a cure but can they distribute all of their cure before Governor Voss and the Chief distribute their "cure". It's a poison to wipe out all of the infected people in the Ward district. She also has to save her sister before it's too late. Will they get to all the sick houses in time? Or is it a trap?
I loved this book and all I can say is there had better be a second book with an ending like that! The ending was kind of disappointing because I thought it was a stand alone book but I still liked it! Oh how some of the characters made me mad! Some had secrets I guessed and others were a complete shock to me. I can't wait to read the second one when it comes out! :D

Carrier of the Mark Review

Title: Carrier of the Mark

Author: Leigh Fallon

Book: (Carrier Trilogy, #1)

Pages: 352

Rating: 3/5

I was freaking out because I wanted this book so much! I mean I love mythology and of course Ireland! One day I hope to go there and see what it really looks like since books may try to describe it but they don't usually succeed. Ok this book was kind of boring and I was laughing since it reminded me so much of Twilight (except in certain instances). I liked the book but it was more about the main characters than about the Irish legends. I prefer mythology to obsessive couples.
Megan is a girl who moves around a lot since her mother died in a car accident. When she moves to Ireland she never expects to make friends so quickly or to have the hottest guy in school watch every move she makes. (I mean his obsession with her is so over the top!) Anyway she feels the attraction to Adam too which makes it super hard for her to ignore him. XD
Adam is a guy who lives with his brother (Rian), his sister (Aine), and their guardian (Fionn) since his parents died. They have secrets which include cool powers. Not going to tell you who has what power but they are pretty cool! They are Carriers of the Mark just like Megan and they are all royalty just like Megan. Not real royalty as in the Queen of England but as in royalty among Carriers of the Mark. I was so confused when the characters talked about this stuff and wanted to skip to the end.
The thing that made me mad was that Megan and Adam couldn't be together (as in married) and yet they were snogging each other to the point I was sure they would do the deed. Nope! Adam began gaining more power when he was near her and he was beginning to lose control of it. As for Megan her power grew but she was able to control it after a bit. Their powers react to each other which could mean something devastating would happen if they got together in that way. Please they are way to young to think of getting married!
Towards the end of the book it really picked up but it didn't last long. I mean I like tense moments in a book but this only had a few pages and it wasn't nearly enough. It wasn't even that exciting! Though I did finish it I kept putting it off until I had nothing better to do since the book was too...silly! Some parts has me super confused and I kept rereading trying to figure out what they were talking about. It could be that I was just tired but I don't think so. It is still a good book but I would wait till you ran out of books before you read this. I will write a review on Shadow of the Mark as soon as I get my hands on it!

World War Z Movie Review

Title: World War Z

Year: 2013

Time: 1hr 55min

Rating: 4/5

Ok I'm not a big fan of zombies and after watching this movie I am still not. It is a great movie but I don't care for scary movies either! I'm a scaredy cat....what can I say? I loved the movie but the zombies really freaked me out. Other times I was laughing because the actors would do something incredibly stupid.
Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) is the main character though it does show his wife (Mireille Enos) and his two kids. (Not his real kids. Just so you know.) They escape from Philadelphia where almost everyone is turned into a zombie.
The zombies are super weird and it takes all of 12 seconds for a person who is bitten to change into one. They run super fast though they are not in any way coordinated. They will settle down and wait but if they hear noise they react immediately. Best not to make any noise but of course everyone does.
Garry flies to South Korea and Israel to try to find the cure and/or the origin. In South Korea they are attacked by so many freaking zombies I was about to curl into a ball. I mean how stupid can someone be to make that much noise? Then in Israel they are safe (for a while) since they had built a huge wall to protect themselves but some idiot began singing through a speaker and all hell breaks loose! Who doesn't see that coming?! Really! They are attracted to noise so of course they are going to climb the freaking wall.
Luckily he makes it out of the city on a plane full of people and a female soldier that he saved. Unluckily the stewardess opened something and a zombie popped out! What was wrong with her?! I saw that coming! So stupid! Anyway he makes it to a W.H.O place alive and with the soldier where they begin to find a way for humans to avoid being attacked. (No spoilers!)
Of course at the end of the movie he is reunited with his family and so on. Zombies are loosing the battle while humans remain invisible to them. Yippy.
Ack! This movie was so predictable but it still scared me to the point I was hiding my head. I know that sounds childish but my friend (though not hiding her face with her arms) was occasionally covering her eyes. She's the one who dragged me to it and the one I now owe payback to. If you like scary movies I definitely recommend it! But if you are like me I wouldn't go see it if I were you. It was good but I could've skipped it.

The 5th Wave Review

Title: The 5th Wave

Author: Rick Yancey

Book: (The Fifth Wave, #1)

Pages: 480

Rating: 4.5/5

Ok I've never cared for aliens that much. So I've watched most of the movies involving aliens like E.T., Close Encounters, Independence Day, etc. I was never into the whole destruction of mankind. I'm still not but this book is how I imagine the aliens (if they exist) would take over. My version is more like the book War of the Worlds but this one (the 5th Wave) is still amazing.
The 1st Wave: Lights out
The 2nd Wave: Surf's Up
The 3rd Wave: Pestilence
The 4th Wave: Silencer
The 5th wave no one knows what's going to hit.
I don't care for different points of view but it seemed to work in this book. Sammy's perspective was a bit boring though.
Cassiopeia (Cassy) is a girl on her own who's mother died during the plague and father was killed by the Others. Her brother was taken by the same soldiers who killed everyone in the camp they lived with their father. She's the only one that survived. Now she can't trust anyone because the aliens (Others) look just like humans do. Now she is being hunted by a Silencer (hit man alien) who plans to kill her. He makes another call.
Ok so Cassy is a bit of a cry baby at points but she has every reason to cry. Her world is being taken over! She is strong and it would take a bullet to stop her from keeping her promise to her brother.
Evan is the boy who saves Cassy's life after she gets an infection from the bullet in her knee. He did that to her (it's obvious who he is) and now he can't let her die for the same reason Cassy has to go after her brother. He loves her. I was rooting for him since (beside the fact that he kills humans) he is so nice to her. He's perfect! (To me at least!) :D
Ben (Zombie) is the guy Cassy has had a crush on since third grade and also the guy who doesn't even know she exists. Ben is living in Camp Heaven with other humans believing he is being trained to kill the Other's who are living as humans. He is wrong and Ringer helps him see that. He's a bit full of himself which really gets to me. Football jock and all. Too full of himself except when he gets all "I don't matter anymore."
Sammy (Cassy's brother) has been living in barracks with Ben as his leader and thinks this is a safe place. He is too trusting and gives up hope of Cassy ever showing up.
Seems all of them are trying to get Nugget (Sammy) out of there. Ben made a promise to come back and Cassy made promise much like that too. So Cassy goes in for Sammy around the time that Ben does. So everyone reading knows that one of them is going to get Sammy out. Who manages to do so though?
I could barely put this book down and sincerely hope there is another book in the series. The ending was left open and it is killing me! I wanted a happy ending for Ben and Ringer along with Cassy and Evan. Unfortunately that was left open so I am going crazy wanting to know what happens. It was a great book overall though. Sorry the review is so long it's just that there were so many perspectives...

Cry Wolf Review

Title: Cry Wolf

Author: Patricia Briggs

Book: (Alpha & Omega, #1)

Pages: 320

Rating: 5/5

I started reading this series out of order since I didn't really know it was a series. I enjoyed the third book so therefore I made sure to buy the first two. Of course it took a while to find them but when I did I had to read the first one immediately. I will write a review on the third one once I do a review on the second one (confusing right?) :) This I promise to do. But first I have other books to read so it might take a while. Sorry.
Anna was just a normal girl until she was attacked and turned into a werewolf (it doesn't go through what happened. it just starts when she has to go get her things from her previous wolf pack). So she gets mated to Charles who is also a werewolf like her only he's and Alfa and she's an Omega. Apparently Omegas are rare so she is very special. Charles is immediately drawn to her with not just his human self but with his wolf counterpart too.
Charles loves her but it takes longer for Anna who has been abused by her previous pack. Lets just say that they tried to break her of her mental stability. Together they go back to his home where soon after they have to face a rogue wolf because Bran (Charles father and leader of the pack) sent them after it. Asil (another werewolf in Bran's pack) knows what is going on so he goes after Charles and Anna who have met another werewolf Walter. Soon after Bran follows. What they are really dealing with is a witch called Mariposa and her guardian. The guardian is a long dead werewolf called Sarai who also used to be Asil's mate. Unfortunately Mari killed Sarai over two hundred  years ago. Basically she's nuts!
So they all have to face this witch and her guardian to save the pack. In the process Anna and Charles truly mated (not what you think!) and she falls in love with him too. Aww! Since she is an Omega she isn't easily controlled but will she be able to break the spell the witch casts and save the pack? Or will they all fall victim to Mari?
I bet you can all guess but I am not going to spoil anything else for you so you'll just have to read the book. I loved the book and hope you all agree with my review. If you like the review I suggest you read the book. Trust me you will like (if not love) this book!

The Lone Ranger Movie Review

Title: The Lone Ranger

Year: 2013

Time: 2hrs 29min

Rating: 3/5

First off I'm sorry I haven't blogged lately! I was reading a book that was the fourth in the series and since I haven't written about the others I decided not to blog about it. I know I usually have a post every other day so forgive me. Now I can get on to the movie review.
I was dying to see this movie and I finally got to see it yesterday. I know it wasn't much of a wait but what can I say...I'm just impatient. I liked this movie. There were extremely funny parts but they came few and far between so I was kind of bored. I hope everyone knows the story of The Lone Ranger. If you don't please watch more TV! I mean who hasn't heard of The Lone Ranger?
Ok so The Lone Ranger (Armie Hammer) died at the hands of some really crazy men. The leader of their group even eats the heart of The Lone Ranger's brother. Major YUCK! You even get to see him cut it out an eat it so I was feeling pretty ill. (This is just the beginning!) So all the Texas Rangers are dead except for him since he is a Spirit Walker. He can't be killed in battle. Well Tonto (Johnny Depp) helps him find these bad guys who are after the silver. They will do anything for it. Even kill all the Indians. I mean all of them!
So these guys aren't happy about any of this so they fight the bad guys who have Rebecca Reid (Ruth Wilson) and her son. They are the family of his brother and is also the woman he loves. So back to the story! Oh my goodness the animals are sooooooo messed up! I mean you'll have to see the movie to understand. I mean it is so whack!
Needless to say the Lone Ranger saves the day (like always) and could have decided to stay with the woman he loves. Instead he and Tonto decide to go out and kill more bad guys.
Ok so this movie is so bloody and not for young kids. I should've said this before but this whole story is told by Tonto a long time after it happens. The movie was good but there were a lot of slow parts that had me wondering if I could get away with wandering the halls. I doubt I would've missed anything important. I managed to sit through it all and I did like it. So it isn't a must watch but I do recommend it for anyone who loves Johnny Depp. Hope I didn't ruin it for you! I mean it is obvious that he's always going to save the day! Hope you enjoyed my review...!

The Madness Underneath Review

Title: The Madness Underneath

Author: Maureen Johnson

Book: (Shades of London, #2)

Pages: 304

Rating: 1.5/5 (being generous here!)

Let me start off by saying I had high hopes for this book. They were dashed halfway through though! I was bored through most of it and at the end I was so mad my dad began to ask if I was ok. Frankly I am not ok! I am seriously pissed at the author for doing this to me! Well not to me but still! Who does that to a main character? I'm getting ahead of myself though so let me explain.
The characters are the same which is always nice but in this one Jerome got on my nerves. Well Rory feels like she is going crazy and she is failing all her classes. So life is pretty much miserable. That pretty much sums up most of the book...(personally I would've dug into my schoolwork to try and forget about the stabbing...) Good news is that she breaks up with Jerome! YAY! Bad news is that she gets involved with crazy people. These crazy people can see ghosts too! They want to cheat death or something. Really crazy!
Stephen, Boo, and Callum save her from them but Stephen is hurt in the process. It didn't seem big at the time but he ended up in a coma. Worse news! Rory, as he dies, (I believe) turns him into a ghost! Whaaaaa? Not right! After they finally kissed she turns him into a freaking ghost! Not fair! He was my favorite character! D: Soooooooooooo upset! Why did she have to kill him off? It's so not right! And I'm not sorry I ruined the book for you all because this is an awful book!
